So about ten centuries ago I participated in a meme, and was given questions by the_angry_pixie to answer. I then proceeded to answer them in a word document, save it, and forget all about it... until I rediscovered it today. So here's how it works:

Let me know in the comments below if you want to play.

- I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
- Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
- Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

So here are the questions that Laura asked ME... back in February or something.

Procrastination. I'm doing it right.

1. One fashion trend that you think is really ugly.

Just one? Um… I hate crocs, but I don’t think those are really a fashion trend anymore (thank God) I guess I’ll have to go with harem pants. They haven’t really caught on massively in North America yet, but they’re everywhere in Europe. All I can think of when I see them on people is MC Hammer… or circus clown.

2. If you were a tree, what type would you be?

A really tall one. Like a Douglas fir or a redwood. Way out in the middle of the wilderness where no one could cut me down. And I’d live for hundreds of years and have lots and lots of rings. And maybe I’d house a family of squirrels. Or an eagle. Yeah… that’d be badass.

Oh, and then when I fell down, lots of other trees and ferns and moss and stuff could grow on my disintegrating carcass, and I would give them nutrients.

The end.

3. Name a quality that you like about me.

Your bitchin’ MS Paint skills. I think it’s jealousy more than anything else. :)

4. Do you prefer hot weather or cold weather?

Are we talking about extremes? If so, then cold weather. Extreme heat makes me feel like I’m choking to death. And I hate feeling sticky and gross. I also like the cold because several of my preferred sports-type activities require snow. I also love the feeling of coming IN from the cold. And I love rain.

(Lol… all of my Canadian friends are going to wonder what the hell I’m on. Only a Vancouverite would say they prefer cold to hot... because we don’t get REAL Canadian winters.)

5. Worst/Best pick-up line ever used on you?

Ummm… I’ve never been the victim of one of those horribly cheesy one-liners. Thank goodness. I don’t think I’d know how to react. I did have a guy in Greece tell me, “I like your face.” I think he meant for it to come across a bit more smooth/flattering, but English wasn’t his first language.

Best pick-up line I’ve ever HEARD: Three weeks ago I was @ a bar with my friend Emily, and she met this 19-year-old drunk kid who was really smitten with her. He followed her around the whole night chatting her up, and at one point actually said to her, “Wow, you’ve got really nice boobs for a 30-year-old.” LOLOL. I died. She kinda wanted to punch him in the nads. Understandably.

…She does have nice boobs, though.

Well, that's it guys. I promise I will be updating again in the somewhat near future once school lets up a bit for me. I've been neglecting my poor livejournal. This needs to be remedied.

I can't sit still. I have a ton of homework to do before I head to class tonight at 5:30, but I can hear the car horns starting to blast outside my window already. This is IT! Tonight the Vancouver Canucks will either win or lose the Stanley Cup final. There are no other games after this. Game Seven. I can't believe it. I remember the last time the Canucks made it to Game Seven of the Stanley Cup finals. I was twelve years old, and they lost to the New York Rangers 2-3. It was a sad day. There were riots downtown... lots of vandalism... lots of rage. I'm hoping we don't have to go through that again. This time they're gonna win it... we've waited SO LONG.

If they win, I will post videos/photos of the post-game mayhem. Unfortunately for me I have class during the game (WHY DO THE GODS HATE ME!?!?!?), but our instructor is letting us stream it on our computer monitors while we do our work. I guess that's the best outcome I could hope for. Regardless of what happens, I WILL be downtown after the game is over. Pray for me.

Yeah, I know. I'm skipping about 7 episodes here. I do plan on getting around to the ones that I've missed, but I wanted to recap this episode first, because it's a bit more recent (i.e. easier for my puny brain to recall), and because it was an interesting one.

Tagged by bluesuzanne

A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their journal and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question.
B) Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.

1. Make a list of 5 things you can see without getting up:

* San Pellegrino Bottle
* Camera
* Silver Sand-dollar earrings
* Four strands of mardi-gras beads
* Stack-o-books

2. How do you style your hair?
Blow dry a bit, then... that's about it.

3. What are you wearing now?
Tights, a long grey sweater-dress, purple socks, and several necklaces.

4. What's your occupation?
Unemployed (mostly), but currently working part-time as a nanny.

5. What do you hear right now?
Construction down the street.

6. Who was the last person you hugged?

Georgie (the adorable little 3-yr-old girl that I nanny)

7. What was/is for dinner?
Last night: miso ramen. Tonight: probably veggie burgers.

8. Chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla ice cream (or other)?
Strawberry. But Maple Walnut is my #1 fav.

I saw my brother (and sister-in-law) at his Super-Bowl party, and I saw my sister last week when I gave her one of the cupcakes I baked.

10. What websites do you always visit when you go online?

Livejournal, Twitter, Hotmail.

11. What was the last thing you bought?
Groceries yesterday.

I guess so. I like the short version. Two letters. Simple.

13. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully holding a second university degree.

14. Where's your birthmark?
Don't have one.

15. How easily do you cry, and about what (apart from obviously traumatic things like losing someone you’re close to)?
I don't usually cry super easily, but these days it just seems to happens for no reason... and I get confused. :/

16. If you could play any musical instrument, which one would you play?
I desperately wish I could play the fiddle. Like Irish-jig style.

17. How are you?
Right now? Fine, I guess.

18. What is your earliest memory?
Sticking my finger in the electrical socket (age 2).

19. When did you last SWOON?
The fact that I can't even answer this tells me that it's been far too long.

20. What's the last thing you have regretted?
Not buying any sweets at the grocery store yesterday. But I'm trying to be GOOD, goddamnit.

21. What's the last good movie you saw?

Lol probably Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows (part 1). I never go to the movies. :P

I've been ripped off. Or perhaps I've unwittingly ripped off some rockabillies. I don't even know. How have I not stumbled onto this at some point in the last 3 years???

1) I am too nice to people. It's true. I hate it so much sometimes.

2) My friend is sick with bronchitis and she doesn't want her mom (with whom she lives) to know that she isn't going to work this week, so she's lying to her and showing up at my place at 7am EVERY MORNING THIS WEEK, and staying here until 9pm every night. She just sits around on my sofa all day and wants me to entertain her, bring her food, and watch movies with her as she hacks up a lung. I can't... take... it... anymore. If I'm still healthy by this time next week, I'm counting it as a miracle.

3) IT'S WEDNESDAY! 7 more minutes until new CM time! I managed to herd my friend out the door just in time so that I can watch it BY MY FREAKING SELF.

4) Sometimes I'm afraid I might just be a hermit. Or as close to a hermit as one can get without completely isolating oneself from society. One of my uncles is a legit hermit. Could it possibly be genetic?

5) Personal space is VERY IMPORTANT to me. At least a little bit of it every day. Just a little fucking bit. That's all I ask for.

6) Instead of my usual 45 minute jog, I ran for over an hour today just to get out of my disease-infested house for a while.

7) Why is it that just because I'm unemployed, everybody feels like I owe them my time? And why do I lack the ability to decline in favour of my own interests/pursuits? I suppose it has something to do with guilt/shame. Still, it's starting to get ridiculous. This week I've played hotelier to my sick friend, babysat my sister-in-law's highly unintelligent dog (& even dropped it off at *shudders* dog daycare), picked up a gift for my sister's friend's birthday, helped another friend prime her ceiling (which I helped her strip of its asbestos coating 2 weeks ago), and drove two more friends all over hell's half acre on Saturday searching for furniture for their new apartment.

8) I think my solo adventure is going to come sooner rather than later.

9) Two more days to go before my house is mine again.

This is quite possibly the fastest post I've ever written. Woo!

It's about time I posted this.

I'm such a horrible procrastinator. Still, I couldn't just let this recap fall by the wayside, because it marks the first new CM episode that I actually watched on VHS!!! Honest to God. Wait, let me back up for a second.

This epidose aired like... what... three months ago? Ugh... shameful, Jo. Anyway, three months ago I was at my aunt's house in NS, and I was unfortunately not able to watch TV on Wednesday night because I had to do the family-visiting rounds. Just when I thought I'd have to wait and catch the episode online when I came back to Vancouver, my aunt saved the day by telling me that I could use her VCR to record it! So, using my "I've-still-got-it" VCR programming skillz (the X-files trained me well), I somehow managed to figure out how to set the damn thing so that it would tape CM at 9 o'clock. Once the fate of my show was safe in the hands of my aunt's archaic recording device, I was able to happily skip off to go visit my other relatives.

Next day at around 6pm: I hesitantly checked the tape, fully prepared to hurl it dramatically across the room with a mournful cry should the VCR have accidentally recorded "Elegant & Affordable Faux Furs Hour" on the Shopping Channel or something equally painful and insulting (apparently they LOVE TSC in Cape Breton. It's on... like, three channels 24/7. But I digress). Luckily for said VCR (and, more importantly, for ME) the episode was 100% intact.

Just as I'm settling down to enjoy the show, my mother walks in the room.

-Mom: "What are you watching?"

-Me: "Remember all those reruns we watched in Toronto?"

-Mom: "The psychopath show?"

-Me: "Well..."

-Mom: "The one with the guy who wears his watch like me?"

-Me: "Yeah, that--"

-Mom: "The one where they fired the pretty Canadian girl in the sixth season?"

-Me: "She wasn't really fired per-se--"

-Mom: "The one where Meryl Streep's sister from that Julia Child movie plays one of the characters' moms?"

-Me: "Well... yeah, but I only mentioned that because you said you recognized her from Gle--"

-Mom: "The one where the dark-haired guy's wife used to be on that other show with that kid who went to high school with your friend Stephanie's older brother's gym teacher?"

-Me: "Uh..."

... okay so my mom didn't actually say all of that, but she DID know what show I was talking about after I mentioned Toronto. This made-up conversation exits simply to prove that I talk about CM too much around my friends and family, both online and in RL. To an embarassing degree, it seems. To further prove this point, I present this post as well as this text message sent to me last week by my sister.

Anyway, getting back to my point... in reality my mother probably just said something like: "Mind if I join you?"

Now, if this same question had been asked by my father, the answer would have been, "HELL YES, I MIND. BE GONE WITH THEE!" My father has been known to ruin many a show for me (and my entire family) with his extremely vocal (and unpetitioned) sarcasm. But my mom is cool, so I patted the couch cushion next to me, and thus began my first experience of watching a brand new CM episode with another person present.

Oh, and one last thing before I start. I have to paint the full picture here. The TV that we watched this episode on looks pretty much exactly like this one:

You tell 'em, Annie!

My aunt's is actually a 1977 model RCA (I asked her, and was slightly surprised that she could remember the exact year she bought it). The remote control is about the size of a football, and when you turn the TV off, there's a little blob of green light approx the size of a quarter that lingers in the centre of the screen for about 15 minutes before it gradually fades away.

I felt like I'd travelled back in time, which would've actually been rather appropriate for the PREVIOUS episode ("Reflection of Desire"), but this week it was "Into The Woods". So here you have it!

Christ, Jo. Get on with it alreadyCollapse )

It's goddamn Wednesday!!!!!!!! It's the very Wednesday that was SUPPOSED to give us our new CM episode after 4 weeks of waiting... but instead we have to wait until NEXT Wednesday. I think the only person who's actually happy about this is Spence:

Oh, JJ. We miss you. I'm hoping we at least get a promo trailer tonight at the end of the re-run ep. Happy Wednesday, everybody. :)

So I'm exactly half-way through the 3rd season (and thus the entire series) of SFU, and I wanted to do an update on my attitude towards the characters, since my original SFU post was written about 5 episodes into the 1st season.
